PRESS RELEASE: BIM Kemi and Yangi Strengthen Collaboration to Advance Dry Forming Solutions

June 19, 2024 – Yangi, a global leader in sustainable packaging solutions that has pioneered and is now commercialising their dry forming technology for fibre-based packaging, and BIM Kemi, a speciality chemical company with a long-standing history of developing and producing chemical formulations for the pulp, paper, and packaging industry, are excited to announce the strengthening of their collaboration, with the aim of further developing advanced material recipes tailored to meet the specific process and product requirements for Yangi’s dry forming process.

Building on a long-term development relationship, Yangi and BIM Kemi have been at the forefront of creating innovative solutions for the packaging industry for decades. This enhanced collaboration focuses on securing fit-for-purpose material recipes, ensuring that they meet the demands of the market. By leveraging BIM Kemi’s extensive expertise and track record in supplying functional chemistry, the collaboration is set to bring significant advancements in material science and process optimisation for Yangi’s dry forming technology, Cellera, which is now ready for machine orders.

“Material recipes play a crucial role in matching the unique requirements of both the process and the final product,” said Johann Kaiser, CEO at Yangi “Our strengthened collaboration with BIM Kemi will enable us to push the boundaries of what’s possible in dry forming, delivering superior performance for dry-formed products.”

BIM Kemi, known for its agile and innovative approach, brings decades of experience and a proven track record in the pulp, paper, and packaging sectors. Their ability to develop and supply high-performance chemistry solutions aligns perfectly with Yangi’s commitment to deliver environmentally friendly and efficient packaging solutions.

“We are excited to strengthen our collaboration with Yangi, a true innovator in the packaging industry”, said Anders Rietz, CEO BIM Group. “Together, our cooperation throughout the value chain will drive cutting-edge innovation and advance sustainable packaging solutions, reinforcing our commitment to a greener future.”

Emma W Janco, PhD in Material Science and segment team leader Moulded fibre at BIM Kemi continued “The dry process of forming fibre is inherently different from wet forming, requiring new chemical solutions and ways of applying chemistry than in traditional wet forming technology. As a research-driven chemical supplier, we are very excited to collaborate closely with Yangi to develop new chemical concepts and solutions tailored for this advanced technology”.

“We are thrilled to deepen our collaboration with BIM,” said Polina Naidjonoka, Senior Material Scientist at Yangi “Together, we have already achieved significant milestones, such as our joint R&D efforts in the Vinnova-funded project Funky Pack. This project exemplifies our commitment to pioneering new solutions and demonstrates the potential of our collaborative efforts.”

The Vinnova-funded Funky Pack project is just one example of the successful joint research and development initiatives undertaken by Yangi and BIM Kemi. This project aims to revolutionise the packaging industry by developing three promising chemical solutions for high-performance dry formed fibre-based packaging.

As Yangi and BIM Kemi continue to innovate and lead the way in sustainable packaging solutions, this strengthened collaboration promises to deliver cutting-edge solutions that address the evolving needs of the packaging industry.
